Name: Glyn Mckay
What is your role at Pamarco and what activities does it include?
Technical Manager- – it is a unique role to the business where I provide technical knowledge to all aspects roll manufacture, Sales, Safety, Quality, capital investment and future business development.
What motivates you most about waking up and coming to work?
Knowing that in this role I am constantly helping other people and processes develop, which in turn helps the business develop and grow.
How long have you been with us and how has your career evolved since starting with Pamarco?
I originally started around 1999 as a laser operator, and returned in 2001 as Tech services manager, I then progressed to become UK Sales Manager for a couple of years, before moving on to be the plant manager a position I held until 2019.
What is your greatest achievement in Pamarco so far?
The introduction of the Apprentice scheme, and helping these young people develop and flourish to become very good machinists.
How do you define success?
I measure my success by helping other people (young and old) grow in their roles within the business.
Describe something new you learnt in the last week.
When you are investigating an issue, carry it out yourself ,rather than get someone to give you the results.
What is your favorite thing about working at Pamarco?
Without any doubt it’s the people, not just here in the Uk but in all the Pamarco plants I have visited over the years, I have really enjoyed mixing,learning, and helping everyone I have had the pleasure to meet, both in work and socially out of the work environment.
Tell us about yourself (age, education, hometown, pets, kids, hobbies):
I’m 55, I hold national certificates in Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, and I am NEBOSH qualified (Health & Safety) I have no pets, Ihave been married for 23years to Sharon and we have a 22 year old daughter Courtney. My Hobbies are Rugby League, Cycling, Weight training and socializing (not in that order 😊)
What is the craziest or coolest thing you’ve done in your life?
I did a 10k tough mudder assault coarse for the little princess Cancer charity and helped raise over £1000.
What is your favorite quote:

What is your favorite movie and/or book and/or music and why?
Ant Middleton – First Man In. It’s a really inspirational true story about him and how he turned his life around from a deadbeat to elite SAS soldier and now TV personality and leading motivational speaker and best-selling author.
What is something unique about you that no-one else at Pamarco knows about?
I have held the challenge cup aloft in Wembley Stadium in front of thousands of fans who were cheering outside (they thought I was a player as it was behind tinted screens).
If you could learn or do anything, what would it be?
Guitar – I’m currently trying to do this with little success.
If you could meet anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Winston Churchill – I would love to know his inner thoughts when he was guiding the country through the Second World War.
What is your greatest fear?
Failure and snakes!!!!
What is your greatest personal achievement?
My family!! Along with my wife, having a small part to play in how my daughter has grown into the most humble and caring person who always puts others before herself.
